'The Point' - Term 1, 2024

In early 2024, I spoke out publicly about my personal experience as an ND educator. It  began with an interview in January for the Independent Education Union (IEU) where I discussed the complexities of being a ND educator. The article generated significant interest, resulting in a follow-up in the national IE magazine and a union survey of neurodivergent educators. The survey illuminated the strengths we bring to schools and challenges faced. Many participants noted they had never discussed these issues before, highlighting the importance of creating spaces for these conversations.

Supporting Neurodivergent Students and Educators: An AuDHD Teacher’s Perspective

I’m proud to share my contribution to this issue of the TLN Journal, themed “Supporting Neurodivergent Students: Context, resources and the expertise of educators.”
My article, Supporting Neurodivergent Students and Educators: An AuDHD Teacher’s Perspective, offers insights drawn from lived experience as a neurodivergent educator. It explores practical strategies, systemic challenges, and the powerful role that neurodivergent teachers can play in creating inclusive learning environments—for students and staff alike.

You can access the full issue via the Teacher Learning Network website  tln.org.au. And below is the exert of my article.
